Canterbury & District Angling Association and DED Limited Go Fishing for a Security Solution

To increase security and eliminate 'sharing' of membership cards, Rod Barton, Honorary Secretary of the Canterbury & District Angling Association has introduced an innovative ID scheme with the help of local distributor and security card specialist DED Limited.

Until recently a traditional paper card/booklet with a photo glued to it as proof of ID has been issued to members, but on hearing that photos in these cards had been swapped amongst people to gain entry to the lakes, Rod knew that a more effective, secure and durable ID system had to be implemented.

After some fishing with a different kind of net, Rod discovered the DED Limited website, contacted the specialist sales team, discussed the situation and his needs, and the new system was ready to go in less than a month!

Canterbury & District Angling Association are now using the new Zebra P330i plastic card printer from DED Limited for their new membership card system. The most powerful, reliable and flexible printer in its class, the P330i is being used for printing two completely different kinds of cards to increase security at the lakes and river.

One, an actual members card, containing member photo, association logo, member name etc, the other a new and more specialised solution from DED - a clear vinyl 'window-cling' sticker. Containing the members ID number, this sticker is placed on the inside of the car window and is being used to connect vehicles in the car park with members actually fishing on the lake, making sure that only genuine members are fishing, as well as ensuring there are no unwelcome guests in the car park.

The Zebra P330i is capable of printing a full colour membership card with a photo in less than 25 seconds, and a single colour window sticker in less than 4 seconds, which is just as well - Rod and Diana at the CDAA office have nearly 2000 membership cards to issue under this new scheme!

Thankfully the P330i can hold up to 100 cards stacked in a hopper at any one time, ready for quick and easy printing. Once this mammoth task has been completed, the P330i will be used as an on demand membership card printer, printing cards as and when new members join the association.

The association have also chosen to take advantage of card designing software available from DED Limited, CardFive, to make membership card designing and printing even easier. Used in conjunction with their existing Access database, CardFive makes it simple to pull all the information together and quickly produce professional looking membership and ID cards.
