BSAVA Save Valuable Resources using the
TSP800 from DED
In a
drive to implement a more cost effective and efficient ticketing system,
Gloucestershire based British Small Animal Veterinary Association (BSAVA) has
standardised on the TSP800 thermal printer from DED Limited. With over 7,000
delegates attending the annual BSAVA conference held in Birmingham, the TSP800
is being used to print delegate name badges, lunch vouchers and lecture
tickets.
It was identified that the previous ticketing system was
costing too much time and money, so the BSAVA purchased 7 TSP800's from DED
which were installed at the end of 2004. The previous system involved printing
blank tickets and vouchers, making assumptions as to how many delegates would
attend each year. Sticky name labels were then printed and attached as
appropriate. Every year hundreds of tickets went to waste and double the amount
of paper actually needed was used.
Choosing the TSP800 because it gave
the perfect ticket size and provided the opportunity to use a single standard
pre-printed ticket stock, the BSAVA now prints tickets and vouchers on demand
as delegates register, ensuring that time and paper are used more
efficiently.
Taking full advantage of the features available, the BSAVA
are using the TSP800 to automatically cut each ticket to the required length as
defined by the amount of text it contains. To keep tickets for each delegate
together and avoid any individual tickets or vouchers being misplaced, the
TSP800 is being used to perform a partial cut between tickets with the same
delegate name and a full cut when the delegate name changes.
Finding
DED on the internet, Carole Haille, Central Support Manager at the BSAVA
commented that working with DED was "a good experience, information required
was forthcoming and extra support provided promptly."
Founded in 1957,
the BSAVA has 5,500 members and exists to promote high scientific and
educational standards of small companion animal medicine and surgery in
practice, teaching and research. The majority of members work in practice and
represent over a third of the working veterinary surgeons in the UK.
A
highly flexible printer, the TSP800 features a scalable Raster driver which can
scale an A4 page down on to the TSP800's 112mm wide paper, 150mm per second
print speed, logo store for company branding, compact footprint with wall mount
option, drop in and print easy paper loading and USB, Serial, Parallel or
Ethernet interface options.
