DED Goes to the Theatre with Posiflex and the Jiva 8015 - 12382-185
Leading London theatre, the Victoria Palace has standardised on the Posiflex JIVA 8015 touchscreen terminal for all bar and concession sales areas - 22 units in total. This contract was won by Collaborative Software in partnership with UK based distributor of PoS hardware - DED Limited.

Installed in August 2006, the project began when the Victoria Palace found their current system lacked the reporting facilities needed for a front of house operation in a busy theatre environment. Specifically, the Victoria Palace were looking to provide more competent stock control, increase reporting and accountability procedures and enable consolidated reporting from all sides of the business. This is where Collaborative Software's unique 'Admit-One' software came into its own - a system specifically designed for theatres, cinemas, restaurants and bars, it enabled every improvement and requirement to be put into place without any integration problems at all.

Sourcing the hardware to complete this project was just as straightforward - having worked in partnership with DED for over a year, Peter Morton, Managing Director of Collaborative Software, knew that finding a touchscreen terminal solution to work with the Admit-One software would be simple.

The main issues that the new touchscreen terminal had to address were - reliability, a footprint small enough to fit easily into a busy bar area serving up to 1600 people per day and finally a large screen. Ease of use and configuration were also a major consideration to be taken into account, as of course was a strict budget.

DED suggested the JIVA 8015 from Posiflex as the obvious choice to fit this brief and it has proven very popular with the staff at the Victoria Palace. Its combined clarity, ease of use and faultless operation allows them to perform their tasks with no problems at all. A highly reliable all-in one touchscreen terminal, the Posiflex JIVA 8015 features a powerful Celeron 2Ghz processor and 40GB HDD as standard. A range of operating systems and interfaces are also supplied as standard, making the JIVA 8015 a highly adaptable and upgradeable terminal.

Following this installation and previous success stories, Peter Morton has come to favour DED as his "preferred supplier of PoS equipment, thanks to their integrity, helpfulness, flexibility and willingness to get the job done."

Collaborative Software has been in existence since 2000, providing PoS solutions to the cinema, theatre and restaurant/bar markets. It is the developer of the Admit-One admission and retail system.

Operating system support on the JIVA 8015 includes Windows 2000, XP, WEPOS and Linux. USB, RS232C, Parallel & Ethernet ports are supplied as standard. With an optional internal UPS battery and hard disk. It can also be converted into a wall mount bracket for applications where space is at a premium. Options on the Jiva 8015 include a second 12.1" screen mounted on the rear of the terminal, magnetic stripe or smart card reader, iButton reader, fingerprint scanner, 40 key programmable keypad and a 2 x 20 line customer display module.

Formed in 1982, DED Limited based in Lydd, Kent. The ensuing years have seen the company grow to become a leader in the design, manufacture and distribution of: 'Specialist'-Kiosk/Receipt/Label/Ticket-Printers, PoS Equipment, CCD and Barcode Scanners, Magnetic and Smart Card Readers & Writers, Cash Drawers, Pole Displays, Plastic Card Printers and Touchscreen Terminals.
