DED announces the launch of the world’s first dedicated powered USB point of sale printer – the TSP100 FuturePRNT from Star Micronics

The only thermal receipt printer available with all accessories included in one box and the lowest cost thermal receipt printer available today, The TSP100 FuturePRNT is now the world’s first dedicated entry level Powered USB point of sale printer. This PUSB feature reinforces the position of the TSP100 FuturePRNT as one of the most advanced thermal point of sale printers available today.

The PUSB version is offered in addition to the current mains powered version and features two sets of power and interface connectors on the same printer. The first option is to use a traditional USB connection and 24VDC Hosiden type power connection. The second is a new FCI type powered USB connector that combines both the power supply and interface into one USB lead. A pair of blanking plates are supplied with each printer to cover the connectors which are not in use and prevent incorrect connection.

The TSP100 FuturePRNT with PUSB also offers the benefit of being able to use the same UPS to support both the POS system and the printer. This offers significant cost advantages and increased reliability. Furthermore it ensures that in the event of a power failure, the current transaction can be safely completed.

Along with this new feature, the TSP100 FuturePRNT offers many other benefits for PoS applications. Quality output, fast throughput of 25 receipts per minute (rpm’s), minimal footprint and a robust, high speed guillotine cutter to name just a few!

The TSP100 FuturePRNT features the ability to re-design receipts without changing software, crop out embedded text, images and unwanted sections on receipts and create new space for profit making messages and graphics with the unique coupon marketing tool, offering a keyword search to trigger relevant vouchers and information on customer receipts. The unique preview tool makes this even easier by allowing receipts to be previewed before printing. Making resident fonts irrelevant, the font replacement tool works in combination with other tools available on the TSP100 to replace any non true type fonts on the receipt with a more attractive / dynamic font without affecting the speed of the printer.

An innovative feature designed by Star with customer needs in mind, is the automatic receipt reversal software included with the TSP100 as standard. Regardless of whether the printer is desk top, wall mounted or fixed in a kiosk, simply ticking a box in the printer set up rotates the receipt to the correct orientation for printing.

Software developers will love the dedicated, flexible SDK, Active X components the easy driver installation and the modular aspect of the TSP100 which enables Star designed components to be dropped and dragged into existing non Star software, so that the TSP100 features can be taken full advantage of without changing any software.

The TSP100 is JAVA-POS and OPOS, Apple MAC, Linux and Windows compatible, has Microsoft certification (WHQL) and comes with optional blue/black and red/black printing and is available in Star white and charcoal grey.
