WR Evans Specify the Metrologic Voyager from DED

As part of an ongoing strategy to improve in store service and the communications process between pharmacy, hospitals and doctors, Pharmacy chain WR Evans have adopted the Metrologic Voyager barcode scanner from DED Limited in all 47 of their outlets.

In addition to their existing PoS system, each branch of WR Evans has been equipped with the Metrologic Voyager to scan bar-coded prescriptions to enable transmission to the N3 network – The network that links all of the health processes together.

Reliability was the key when sourcing this scanner, anything up to 10,000 prescriptions are scanned per day across the WR Evans chain. On selecting the Voyager Julie Wright, IT Manager for WR Evans explains “we have used Metrologic scanners before, they are easy to install and configure, plus they look sturdy and solid.”

Thanks to the variety of interface and driver options available on the Metrologic Voyager, integration was straightforward. Staff in the pharmacies have found the scanner simple to use and have enjoyed the flexibility of either using it as a hand held scanner or fixed in its cradle.
