Introduction The DCT-4283-G Interface drives the DPT-4210-G
moving head mechanism. The flying cables from the mechanism plug directly into
the interface. The connectors are on the reverse of the board allowing the
interface to be mounted directly underneath the mechanism to minimize space
requirements. The DCT-4283 has both Centronics parallel and RS232 serial
interfaces, the latter accepting up to 19200 baud.
The software
conforms to most standard ESC control codes. Both bit image graphic printing
and special graph plot mode commands are included. Up to 4 times normal size
characters can be printed. An external paper low detector can be input to the
DCT-4283, which has an alarm LED drive output. This controller is used with the
DPT-4217 and DPT-4256 printer assemblies.
The mechanism plugs directly
to the rear of the DCT-4283. DIPswitch settings are available to select serial
or parallel operation, control of paper end and baud rates. A self-test
printout generated by holding the FEED input line low while power is applied
demonstrates that the power supply and print mechanism are operating correctly.
A D167 power supply unit can be used to supply the 5VDC required, mating
connectors are not supplied, and cables can be supplied separately. A grey
scale factor correction can be sent to the DCT-4283 to allow for unusual grades
of thermal paper.
