Q. How Often
Should I Clean My Printer ? A. Your printer should be cleaned every
1000 cards or at every ribbon change (whichever is sooner) when printing onto
normal cards. The printer will prompt you to do so at every 1000 cards by
either a flashing LED (P205, P210, P310 & Magicard Range) or by an LCD
message (P320, P420, P520 & P720).
When printing onto self adhesive
cards we would recommend that you clean the printer twice as often. The
cleaning process should include the replacement of the self-adhesive cleaning
roller which is desgined to keep the cards free from dirt and dust, cleaning of
the printhead using an cleaning swab and finally clean the card paths and
rollers using at least one cleaning card. Both the swabs and cleaning cards are
pre-impregnated with cleaning fluid for ease of use.

months - 2 years, but this is not guaranteed.
Q.Does lamination prolong the lifespan? A. Yes, any
form of cover will protect the card, but the lamination process is an advanced
way to fight fading.
Q. When referring to
magnetic stripe encoding, what is the difference between a High coercivity
(Hi-co)stripe and Low coercivity (Lo-co) stripe? A.Coercivity is a
measurement of magnetic density, in less technical terms the amount of energy
it will take to change a magnetic field. Magnetic flux density is measured in
the SI unit Oersteads (Oe),Which measures low coercivity as 0-300 Oe and high
coercivity as 300-3000 Oe. So to sum up in simple terms, A hi-co card will
keeps it data longer than a lo-co card. We do a wide range of magnetic card
readers / writers click here to see
our card encoding products.
Q. Which format
would I require you to use, to design your card image ? A. The image must be
designed on PC not Mac, Jpeg is the simplest format to receive a card design,
this allows less corruption for the card software here, however, there are

Q.What is the difference between
Parallel and Serial? A. This describes the means of transmitting
data:
Serial - All information is sent in a single data stream.
Parallel - Information is sent in 8 side by side data streams.
*Where a lot of data is to be sent we would recommend that parallel is
used.
Q. Explain Bar Code Scanners?
A.Two basic methods are used CCD and laser, In general the ccd scanner has to
make contact with the barcode where the laser system requires that the barcode
passes in front of the scanner at approx 200mm distance
Q. What is the difference between Thermal/Dot
matrix? A. Thermal printing uses a treated paper and can print graphics,
