Q. When referring to magnetic stripe encoding, what is the difference between a High coercivity (Hi-co)stripe and Low coercivity (Lo-co) stripe?
A.Coercivity is a measurement of magnetic density, in less technical terms the amount of energy it will take to change a magnetic field. Magnetic flux density is measured in the SI unit Oersteads (Oe),Which measures low coercivity as 0-300 Oe and high coercivity as 300-3000 Oe. So to sum up in simple terms, A hi-co card will keeps it data longer than a lo-co card. We do a wide range of magnetic card readers / writers click here to see our card encoding products.
